Loose bolts on Tesla Model Y – 3,470 units being recalled – Technology Org
One or two loose bolts can make a huge difference, especially when they are located in an actively used car. That is why Tesla is now recalling 3,470 Model Y vehicles manufactured from 2022 to 2023.
The recall has been mandated by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). According to the official filing made publicly accessible on Saturday, these bolts are used to secure second-row seatback frames.
The report says these bolts may not have been securely tightened, and therefore may lead to a reduced seat belt system performance and associated increased risk of injury during a potential car crash.
Tesla admitted to NHTSA that its engineers have encountered five warranty claims since the last December that may be related to the same technicalc issue, but also said no injuries or deaths have been reported to this date, related to the cause for the recall.
The cars will be checked at the Tesla’s repair facilities and the bolts securing second-row driver-side and passenger-side seat back frames to the lower seat frames will be tightened according to specifications.
